History of the building
Construction of the building, partial destruction during World War II, Morian side, reconstruction.
After the end of the war, the telephone exchange was established. Today, this address is still the control centre for Elberfeld’s landlines; subsequently, the Old Main Post Office, the tax office on the top floor.
Start of conversion to a hotel, the owner of the building complex on Morianstr. /Hofkamp / Platz am Kolk renovated the building to incorporate the John Reed Fitness Studio in the former building of Wuppertal’s Old Main Post Office, next to our boutique hotel and introduced the most modern structural standards for this current use.
Opening of Postboutique Hotel Wuppertal: after extensive renovations, the hotel – complete with three floors of rooms – was opened in summer 2021. The Rex Bar in the lobby is home to delicious long drinks, cocktails, fine wines and a stunning culinary offering.
Since its opening, our regional, varied breakfast buffet has delighted our hotel guests and countless Wuppertal residents. The ambience and quality attract guests from near and far.
